Our Staff
Barbara McGowan
Owner
Barbara’s husband, Max McGowan, built our facility in 2007 and managed it until his death in 2020. Barbara is now the sole owner.
She has an undergraduate degree in Business Marketing and she and Max owned an advertising agency in Chicago for 25 years. In 2005 they sold the agency to their employees and moved to Pinehurst.
Barbara also has a Master’s degree in Social Work and works as a therapist in private practice in Southern Pines.
Dion Baynard
Site Manager - Dion Baynard, our Site Manager discharged from the Air Force as a Staff Sergeant with 11 years of service.
Dion, his wife, and four sons live in Carthage, NC.
Mark Cooper
Assistant Manager - Mark works part-time assisting Dion with management duties.
Mark retired from the U. S. Coast Guard with 20 years of service. Since then he has worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for Butterball Turkey and owned and operated his own Food Truck. Before coming to Hwy 401 Storage, Mark worked as a Pitmaster for Lowe’s Foods in Southern Pines.
Mark and his wife Donna live in Raeford. They have 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
